Judy garland: the concert years

Joan Ellison celebrates the genius of Judy Garland, singing her original concert arrangements of the 1950s and ‘60s with a studio orchestra. The swinging hit parade includes “I Feel a Song Coming On,” “Just In Time,” “When the Sun Comes Out,” “Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart,” “The Palace Medley,” “Once in a Lifetime,” “The Man That Got Away,” and “Over the Rainbow.”

Joan Ellison has been described by Michael Feinstein as a “rare combination of artist, archivist, and arranger.” As the restorer of Garland’s original orchestral arrangements for the Judy Garland Heirs Trust, she brings musical authenticity and a life-long love for Judy to the stage.

“Another highlight…is Joan Ellison’s wondrous performance of ‘Over the Rainbow.’ Her voice strong and clear,…Ellison gives a master class in interpretation. Painting a picture with her talent and emotion, Ellison’s irresistible performance inspires an electric reaction from the crowd.” — New Jersey Stage
